Jacksonville State scored seven runs in the top of the 10
th inning to defeat FIU, 13-6, Saturday night at the FIU ballpark.
The Gamecocks improved to 8-2. The Panthers are now 4-6.
Tied 6-6 to start the 10
th, JSU batted around. Nic Gaddis's three-run double capped the inning for the Gamecocks.
FIU fell behind early 5-2 but rallied in the bottom of the sixth inning to tie the score. An error and JSU pitchers Derrick Adams and Sean Rape hitting two Panthers with pitches helped load the bases.
Rape then hit
Christian Khawam with a pitch to score a run.
Eddie Silva followed with a two-run single to tie the score at 5.
Silva continued his success at the plate against JSU. He was 2 for 4 with three RBI and is now 5 for 9 with two home runs and six RBI in the series.
Austin Shenton was 2 for 4 for FIU including a solo home run in the seventh that gave the Panthers a 6-5 lead.
FIU and JSU conclude their three-game series Sunday with a 12 p.m. first pitch.
