EL PASO, Texas (May 5, 2019) – The FIU softball team fell to UTEP on Sunday afternoon, as the Panthers dropped the series to the Miners over the weekend.
FIU fell 11-3 to UTEP, as the game was called after the fifth inning due to the run rule. With the loss, FIU falls to 26-25 overall and 7-16 in C-USA play, while UTEP moves its record to 17-32 and 9-15 on the year.
Megan Kugelmann started the game in the circle, allowing three runs off three hits as she picked up the loss.
At the plate, junior
Brianna Bahadue led the Panthers as she went 2-for-2 at the plate with an RBI. Catcher
Kameron Aitken collected one RBI and one hit on the day.
UTEP jumped ahead 3-0 in the first inning before a pair of hits by the Panthers in the bottom half of the inning tied up the game 3-3. The Miners would go on to score eight unanswered runs and bring the final score to 11-3.
