AUSTIN, Texas (March 29, 2024) - FIU completed its first day of competition at the prestigious Texas Relays with three athletes starting off the weekend for the Panthers.

Junior Michaelle Valentin earned a sixth place finish in the hammer with a throw of 60.91m in a field of 15 competitors. Valentin is coming off a school record performance in the discus last week at UCF. 

In Section B of the javelin, freshman Selena Calix put together a fifth place mark with a throw of 43.11m, just off a personal best that she set at the Hurricane Invitational. 

Nicole Rotger competed in the pole vault, taking 15th with a leap of 4.00m 

Six athletes are scheduled to compete on Friday, including - 

- Devin Mannings, discus 
- Christiana Ellina, javelin
- Hannah Jansen, javelin 
- Qua'liyyah Taylor, discus
- Michaelle Valentin, discus 
- Blake Orr, javelin
