LONG BEACH, Calif. (April 11, 2024) - FIU completed Thursday action at the Pacific Coast Invitational in Long Beach, highlighted by a standout performance from Ethan Riley and Nicole Rotger in the pole vault.

Riley's mark of 5.16m reset his FIU school record, which he set weeks ago at the Hurricane Invitational.

Rotger vaulted to a personal best mark of 4.26m, eclipsing her personal best of 4.17m set at the Conference USA Indoor Championships. It is the second best mark in FIU outdoor history, only behind Filippa Miller's 4.35m at last year's Conference USA Outdoor Championships. Rotger's mark tied her for second at the competition.

Luciana Gomez-Iriondo finished right behind with a mark of 3.91m.

In the men's high jump, Jeremy Perlin and Alex Gabossy both recorded marks of 2.01m, putting them in the top six of the meet. In the women's high jump, Isabell-Mary Luik's mark of 1.71m was a personal best.

Second-team All-American Michaelle Valentin placed sixth in the discus with a mark of 53.44m.

The Panthers will now reset and take part in the Beach Invitational over the course of the next two days.
