Valentin, a junior competing in her second NCAA Outdoor Champoionships, placed 12th in the discus with a personal best mark of 64.33m.

In the javelin, Ellina placed 18th with a mark of 50.31m, capping her sophomore year with her debut NCAA Outdoor appearance.
"Christiana's improvement from year to year has been fantastic," said Heberling. "The sky is the limit for her moving forward."

Valentin will now get set to compete in the discus on Saturday.
Head coach Ryan Heberling has taken at least one athlete to the NCAA Outdoor Championships every year since he took over the program in 2014. This follows the NCAA East Prelims, where a record 10 FIU athletes qualified for regionals.
