EUGENE, Oreg (June 8, 2024) - FIU junior
Michaelle Valentin capped her 2024 collegiate campaign with a 12th place mark in the discus at the NCAA Outdoor Championships, earning second-team All-American honors for the second time this week.
RESULTS
Valentin, two days after a 12th place finish in hammer, placed 12th in the discus with a throw of 55.37m on her second attempt. Valentin has now placed 10th and 12th at the last two NCAA Outdoor Championships in the discus.
"It really was another fantastic year for Michaelle - and we're all proud of her season," said head coach
Ryan Heberling. "She has represented FIU at the highest level year after year."
Valentin was joined by
Christiana Ellina in Eugene this week, who competed in the javelin in her first appearance at NCAA Outdoor.
Head coach
Ryan Heberling has taken at least one athlete to the NCAA Outdoor Championships every year since he took over the program in 2014. This follows the NCAA East Prelims, where a record 10 FIU athletes qualified for regionals.
