MIAMI — FIU's volleyball program lost in straight sets to New Mexico State on Saturday afternoon in Conference USA (CUSA) play.
The Panthers honored their senior class of Yasso Amin, Amber Beals, Jade Sadeiko and Syra Tanchin pregame as part of their Senior Day match. This quartet has combined for 748 kills and 631 digs so far this season.
FIU (12-18, 8-8 CUSA) battled with the Aggies (19-9, 11-5 CUSA) in the opening set, falling 26-24. Both sides continued to score back-and-forth in the final two sets, but NMSU came away victorious, 25-22 and 25-20, respectively.
Tanchin led the offense with 10 kills while Sadeiko added eight in support. Beals was in double-digits with 10 digs and also had one service ace. Travel Morris had a game-high five blocks and posted four kills. Gianna Tagoa'i dished out 15 assists and Savannah Cook recorded six.
The Panthers' eight wins in Conference USA play are the most for the program since 2018.
Following all completed CUSA results, the Panthers will have the No. 6 seed in the upcoming CUSA Tournament. FIU will face Middle Tennessee at 6 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 17. In Lynchburg, Va.
