MIAMI (Jan. 17, 2016) – The FIU women's tennis team had a strong showing during Day Two of the UCF Quad Tournament, picking up seven victories (five singles, two doubles) on Sunday afternoon from the UCF Tennis Complex.
In singles action versus UCF, the Panthers took five of six matches. Freshman
Maryna Veksler defeated Caroline Eberhart, 2-6, 6-4, 6-2, senior
Carlotta Orlando downed Sofia Baptista, 6-4, 6-4, while junior
Nina Nagode defeated Cortney Cesarini, 6-3, 6-4. Sophomore
Nerma Caluk won a 6-4, 7-5 match with Diana Dehterevich and senior
Kaitlin Brozovich defeated Clare Mendell, 6-2, 5-7, 6-0.
The Panthers took 2-of-3 matches in doubles play versus North Texas. Orlando and redshirt freshman
Andrea Lazaro defeated the team of Minying Lang and Laura Arciniegas, 6-2, and Caluk and Brozovich downed Nastya Shestakova and Alexis Thoma, 6-1.
Action will wrap up on Monday morning 10 a.m. from the UCF Tennis Complex.
