WHAT WE LOOK FOR
FIU Dazzlers are expected to possess a blend of technical skill, dedication, and passion for dance. They should demonstrate strong physical conditioning, agility, and mastery of various dance styles, with the ability to adapt to different choreographies quickly. In addition to their physical abilities, a Dazzler team member must have a positive and team-oriented mindset, contributing to a supportive and collaborative environment. Time management is crucial, as balancing rigorous practice schedules, performances, and academic responsibilities is a constant challenge. Those auditioning should be open to constructive feedback, eager to improve, and exhibit a high level of commitment and discipline. An FIU Dazzler is not just a dancer; but a representative of school spirit, and an ambassador for FIU bringing energy and enthusiasm to every performance and embodying the values of teamwork and perseverance.
Skills to expect include:
Triple Pirouette
Turns in second- a la seconde turn sequence
Switch leaps and jump combinations
Flexibility and leg extensions
Acrobatic Technique
Throughout the audition the most important quality is confidence!
REGISTRATION
Please bring the following items:
1) Completed and signed FIU ATHLETICS FACILITIES RELEASE WAIVER
2) Full body photo in audition attire
3) Photo copy of FIU student ID card
4) Copy of Fall schedule
-First Year Student- Letter of Acceptance
5) Audition Fee- $35 cash
Day 1- Preliminary Round
Please be sure to arrive knowing the choreography for the FIU FIGHT SONG
Day 2- Final Round
-Solo Routine
· prepare 30-45 second solo routine
· style of your choice
· showcase your best skills
· be sure music has been edited/cued
· email instructions for music submission will be shared once Finalists are announced
ATTIRE
Women
· Dress to impress
· Crop top and shorts with nude tights
· Jazz shoes, sneakers, tuners
· Performance earrings only- no other body jewelry
· Performance hair and makeup
Men
· Sleeved t shirt and gym shorts or pant
· Dance shoes and sneakers
· No piercings
· Well groomed and clean shaven
ELIGIBILITY
- Must be an FIU registered student for the 2025 Fall & 2026 Spring semester.
- Undergraduate student, full time-minimum12 credits
- STEP Program
- Graduate Student- minimum 9 credits
- Students must be enrolled in classes for Fall 2025. Students accepted for Spring 2026 are not eligible to audition. We recommend continuing your training, and we hope to see you for the following year.
- Maintain at least a 2.0 GPA
- If you are a first year or transfer student, you MUST provide a letter of acceptance into the university.
- You must be available for Team Physicals, Summer Intensives, and the start of summer practices.
REHEARSAL SCHEDULE
Please consider your availability for all listed dates prior to auditioning, you must be available and present for all dates.
- Team Meeting- Tuesday, May 20th- 5:00pm
- Physical Clearance Packet-
- Summer Intensive Week- June 9th-12th
- Season Practices - beginning July 14th- Mondays & Wednesdays
- Team Practices- Mondays & Wednesdays 8:30am-11:30am
- Additional practice times are based on events
