INTRODUCTION
Introduce yourself and let us know a little about who you are as an individual and as an athlete, and why you want to be an FIU Cheerleader. We won’t have the opportunity to meet you in person like everyone else, so make sure you allow your personality to be displayed. Show us what you bring to the team, outside of just cheerleading.

FIGHT SONG
Our college Fight Song is where choreography meets school spirit. This FIU Spirit tradition is performed at most of the major university and athletic functions, pep rallies and at all football and basketball games. There have been slight changes in recent years, please review the video to be sure you are up to date.

STUNTING
If you can't get a group together you can use clips of any team performances you were a part of during the 2025-2026 season. In addition to general technique (BACK SPOT, MAIN BASE, SIDE BASE, and/or FLYER), show us any variation of the following skills:

  • Twisting
  • Inversion Release

Those with partner stunt experience can also show us any of the following stunts or harder:

  • Toss variations
  • Toss Full Up

JUMPING
Show us ONE SINGLE JUMP, and ONE DOUBLE JUMP COMBINATION.
Jumps can include Toe Touches, Right or Left Front Hurdlers, or Pikes.
If you can safely tumble out of your jumps, add a standing back handspring or back tuck out of your single jump.

TUMBLING
Our Tumbling is primarily performed on turf/grass, Non spring floor mats, or on Basketball court. If spring floor is all that you have access to, its ok, but we’d prefer to see you skills on one of surfaces mentioned above. Please send in your hardest standing tumbling pass and your hardest running tumbling pass.

WHAT WE LOOK FOR
At FIU Cheer, we look for athletes who possess a strong combination of athleticism, passion, and commitment. Ideal candidates demonstrate an elevated level of physical fitness, flexibility, and coordination, alongside an ability to perform cheers, stunts, and tumbling with precision. We seek individuals who work well in a team environment, and will be great student ambassadors showing effective communication, collaboration, and leadership skills. A positive attitude, willingness to learn, and dedication to representing the team and university are key traits we value. Whether you are experienced in cheerleading or new to the sport, our focus is on athletes who are eager to grow, bring energy to every practice, and contribute to the success of the program.
