MIAMI (Oct. 19, 2016) – Following the FIU swimming and diving teams 3-0 sweep at last weekend's Dual-A-Palooza, the Panthers jumped up to No. 27 in the collegeswimming.com national poll as well as No. 5 in the outlet's mid-major poll this week.
FIU was perfect on the weekend during the event in Houston, Texas. The Panthers topped Tulane, 142-82, defeated C-USA foe Rice, 104-98, and downed Denver, 119.50-85.50, for the weekend sweep. Denver is currently ranked No. 22 in the latest poll and is listed as the top mid-major team in the nation. Rice sits at No. 24 nationally, and is No. 2 in the mid-major poll, while Tulane ranks 34
th in the nation and is ninth among mid-major programs.
FIU will next host the FIU Tri-Meet featuring Nova Southeastern and Indian River State on Friday, Oct. 21. The meet is scheduled to start at 5:00 p.m. from the Biscayne Bay Aquatic Center.
