FIU’s Skye Carey and Rebecca Quesnel Named C-USA Swimmer and Diver of the Week

IRVING, Texas (Oct. 25, 2016) – For the second-straight week FIU swimming and diving swept Conference USA weekly honors as Skye Carey and Rebecca Quesnel were named the C-USA Swimmer and Diver of the Week, respectively, the league announced on Tuesday.

Carey and Quesnel helped the No. 33-ranked Panthers claim victories over Nova Southeastern (159-121) and Indian River State (207-82) last Friday.

Carey won both of her individual events this past weekend, claiming first in the 100 Back with a time of 56.19 and first in the 200 back with a time of 2:02.71. Her time in the 100 Back set the top mark in Conference USA this season.
The first-place finishes were the first two of the season for Carey, who also guided her 400 Free Relay team to an overall second place finish.
The honor marks the second of Carey's FIU career.

Quesnel scored a season-best 278.70 for her first win of the season in the 1-meter program. Quesnel out-scored second place by nearly 40 points. The score also qualified Quesnel for NCAA Zone B Diving.  She followed that up for her second Zone B Diving Qualifying mark this time in the 3-meter program. Quesnel posted a season-best 285.21 for her second win in the event this season. She bested second place by nearly 60 points as FIU went on to pick up two more victories on the year.

The award is the 13th of Quesnel's career.

The Panthers will next host North Florida on Saturday, Nov. 5. The dual meet is set for noon from the Biscayne Bay Aquatic Center.
