MIAMI (October 5, 2016) -- Following a 1-over par 217 and a tie for 16
th this week, FIU senior
Camila Serrano (Bogota, Columbia) was named the Conference USA Golfer of the Week, league officials announced today.
Serrano posted two sub-par rounds at the Eighth-Annual Johnie Imes Invitational, contested at the par-72, 6,204-yard The Club at Old Hawthorne, located in Columbia, Missouri.
Serrano dropped in four birdies and two bogeys and a final round of 2-under to shoot 1-over (71-76-70 217) for the week and into a tie for 12
th in the 81-player field. Serrano finished 1-over for the week on the par-4 holes, tied for 15
th in the field of 82, and 2-under on the par-5 holes, tied for eighth-best in the field.
She has posted rounds of par or better four of the six rounds played this season, with a season-best 3-under 69 in the opening tournament in Nebraska.
This is her first Golfer of the Week of the season, and second for her career, winning first on February 19, 2014.
The FIU program will compete next in Memphis, Tennessee, at the Memphis Women's Fall Intercollegiate. There is a 36-hole day on Monday the 17
th, with a final 18 holes the following day.
