Anthony Evans announced today the signing of 6-foot-5, 185-pound guard Joshua Stamps from Chicago, Illinois (Trinity Valley C.C/Curie Metropolitan H.S.) to a National Letter of Intent during the recent early signing period.

Stamps, currently a sophomore at Trinity Valley in Athens, Texas, is averaging 12.4 points-per-game for the Cardinals through nine games this season on 41.9 percent shooting from the field, including 36.8 percent from three-point range, and 76.5 percent from the free throw line. In addition, Stamps is grabbing 2.0 rebounds-per-game and handing out 1.2 assists-per-outing.
During the 2016-17 campaign, Stamps has scored in double figures in seven of the nine games, including a season-high 19 points, on 6-of-11 shooting from the field, 2-of-4 from three-point range and 5-of-7 from the charity stripe, in an epic, 161-158, five-overtime game at Daytona State College on Nov. 25.
So far this season, the Cardinals have poured in over 100 points in eight consecutive games after scoring 99 points in the season opener on Nov. 4. TVCC is averaging 115.9 points-per-outing this season.
As a freshman, Stamps scored at a 12.5 points-per-game clip while shooting 46.7 percent from the field, 38.3 percent from behind the arc and 79 percent from the line. He also pulled down 3.4 rebounds-per-contest and dished out 1.2 assists-per-game. For his efforts, Stamps was an All-Texas Eastern Athletic Conference Honorable Mention selection.
Trinity Valley claimed the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region 14 title during the 2015-16 season, were an unprecedented 19-0 in conference play and were ranked No. 1 in the NJCAA during the second half of the season. TVCC finished the year on a 33-game conference winning streak and also matched a school record for wins in a season, going 33-2 and advancing the NJCAA Elite Eight in Hutchinson, Kansas.
