Clapot and Giovine Named to 2016 InTouch Credit Union C-USA All-Academic Team

MIAMI (November 9, 2016) – FIU men's soccer standouts Arthur Clapot and Luca Giovine have been named to the 12-member InTouch Credit Union Conference USA All-Academic Team, as announced by the league office this afternoon.

Clapot, a senior goalkeeper from Annecy, France, played a major role in the box this season tallying 35 saves in 12 games. He also accounts for three of the Panthers' five shutouts on the year, including two in conference play. An outstanding student in the classroom, Clapot is majoring in marketing and boasts a 3.72 GPA. As a role model on the field, Clapot was the recipient of the 2015 Conference USA Spirit of Service Award, the 2015-16 Conference USA Commissioner's Honor Roll and the 2015-16 C-USA Commissioner's Academic Medal.

A junior forward from Roselle, Florida, Giovine has proven to be a great student in the classroom and has become a phenomenal player on the pitch. An accounting and international business major, Giovine holds one of the highest GPA's on the roster (3.73). He has totaled six points on the season, consisting of two goals and a pair of assists. Giovine's goals came during back-to-back games and included a game winner while his assist came with only two seconds remaining in regulation time against then-No. 5 Charlotte. This past academic year, Giovine was named to the Conference USA Commissioner's Honor Roll and received the Commissioner's Academic Medal.

The Panthers finished the Conference USA regular season in a tie for second place with South Carolina and earned the No. 3 seed in the C-USA Tournament which begins tonight, Nov 9. The Panthers will face the No. 6 seed UAB in the first round at 7 p.m. in Huntington, West Virginia, at Marshall University's Veterans Memorial Soccer Complex.
