MIAMI (March 7, 2016) -- FIU freshman pitcher
Megan Kugelmann (Merritt Island, Florida / Cocoa Beach HS) was named Conference USA Co-Pitcher of the Week for the second week in a row, the league office announced today.

Kugelmann tossed her second collegiate no-hitter after throwing a no-no just the weekend before, as the Panthers blanked Florida A&M 8-0 in six innings Saturday night in Gainesville, Florida. In the victory, Kugelmann pitched six scoreless innings, allowing only one walk and seeing two other baserunners due to Panthers errors as part of the Aquafina UF Invitational, hosted by the University of Florida. She struck out three batters and helped her own cause with two defensive assists. She improved her record to 3-1, possessing a 1.27 earned run average in 22 innings after three starts and three relief appearances for the Panthers. She has 20 strikeouts against four walks and four earned runs, allowing only six hits for the season.

There have been four no-hitters throws in the league this season, with Kugelmann collecting two.

She is the national leader in hits allowed per seven innings (1.91) and 39
th in the country with a 1.27 earned run average.

Kugelman has won Co-Pitcher of the Week twice in four weeks of awards, with teammate
Stephanie Texeira (Miami, Florida / Gulliver Prep) also taking home Co-Player of the Week honors on February 29.

The Panthers will host midweek games over the next two nights this week. FIU faces East Carolina for one game, starting at 7 p.m. Tuesday evening at Felsberg Field at the FIU Softball Stadium. Wednesday, FIU will play a doubleheader against Notre Dame, with game one starting at 5 p.m.

The Panthers start Conference USA play on Saturday, hosting the Charlotte 49ers for a Saturday doubleheader, starting at 4 p.m. The series concludes with a Sunday noon contest.
