Series preview: The midway point of the Conference USA schedule finds FIU looking from the outside in at one of the top eight spots in the conference standings. The Panthers are there after getting swept by Old Dominion last weekend. FIU enters the weekend tied for ninth with UAB in the C-USA standings, one game back of Charlotte. FIU hopes to take the momentum of its walk-off win against Bethune-Cookman Wednesday into Ruston. . .La. Tech took two of three games from WKU last weekend. The Bulldogs carry the fourth-best ERA (4.09) in C-USA into their series with the Panthers. La. Tech is also the third best fielding team in the conference with a .972 fielding percentage. La. Tech has attempted the most stolen bases in the conference and have the second most steals. The Bulldogs are 48 of 65 on the base paths.
