FIU right-hander Willy Fabra was named to the 2016 Conference USA Baseball All-Academic Team.

Fabra is 2-2 with 17 strikeouts in 21 1/3 innings pitched, while opponents are hitting .253 against him. The junior was named to FIU's Dean's List in the Fall of 2015, when he had the highest cumulative GPA for the baseball team. Fabra also earned a CUSA Commissioner's Academic Medal and was on the Academic Honor Roll.

Fabra is an accounting major with a 3.8 grade point average.

Twelve student-athletes from nine different schools make up the 2016 Conference USA Baseball All-Academic Team as selected by the media relations contacts at each of the 12 baseball schools. In order to be eligible for the recognition student-athletes must hold a 3.2 cumulative grade point average, be of at least sophomore academic standing and be a starter or key reserve for their team. Louisiana Tech, Southern Miss and WKU led the way, each with a pair of All-Academic team members.
