Tiffani Hernandez and graduate student
Luka Mustafic have been named to the 2016 Conference USA Track & Field All-Academic Team the league announced on Friday.
This marks the first C-USA All-Academic Team honor for Hernandez and second-straight for Mustafic.
Hernandez is a two time C-USA Academic Medal winners (2014-15 and 2015-16) and was named to the C-USA Honor Roll during the 2013-14. The native of Hamilton, Ontario, took the gold in the javelin with a mark of 43.91 meters during the C-USA Outdoor Championships. Hernandez registered a then-season-best mark in the Javelin of 42.78 meters for a fourth-place finish at the Miami Hurricane Twilight Invitational (3/25). She also had a first-place finish with a throw of 42.32 meters at the Cal State LA Twilight Open (4/14). Hernandez earned a 3.91 in criminal justice.
Mustafic, who was named to the C-USA Honor Roll in 2014-15 and was awarded the 2015-16 C-USA Academic Medal, garnered at 3.67 in international business. Mustafic notched top-five finishes five times, including the gold medal in the shot put during the GVSU Big Meet with a throw of 16.72 meters and placing first in the shot put during the Clemson Orange & Purple Classic (17.13 meters). The native of Rakitje, Croatia, took the silver in the shot put (17.06 meters) during the 2016 C-USA Indoor Championships. He placed third in the shot put (16.64 meters) during the Miami Hurricane Twilight Invitational, while setting a PR in the discus with a mark of 42.89 meters.
