MIAMI (July 13, 2016) – Former FIU standout Aubrey Smith will represent Jamaica in the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. Smith, who will be competing in the long jump, is one of 63 athletes who will compete for Jamaica during this summer's Olympic Games.
Smith, who competed at FIU for two seasons (2012-13 and 2013-14), was a Second-Team All-Conference USA selection in 2014 after claiming the silver medal in the long jump at the C-USA Championships. His jump of 7.80m set the FIU outdoor record and made Smith the school's first All-C-USA selection in men's track and field.
The Olympics begin on Aug. 5 with the long jump beginning Aug. 12.
