The Panthers (0-1-0) are coming off a tough 1-0 loss on Friday to Furman. The Paladins scored in the 88th minute to pull out the hard-fought victory.

Despite the fact that FIU had control of the match for much of the evening, the contest proved to be a statistical dead heat for the entire 90 minutes. Furman led slightly in shots (8-7), shots on goal (5-4), fouls (16-15) and corner kicks (3-2), while the Panthers' keeper Arthur Clapot had four saves to the Paladins' three.

In the second match of the night, he College of Charleston (1-0-0) made quick work of Navy on Friday, sinking the Midshipmen, 2-0, with both goals coming in the first six minutes of the match, including the first goal – and game-winner – finding the back of the net just 21 seconds in. The Cougars dominated statistically outshooting Navy 14-7 and held a 4-2 advantage on the Midshipmen in corners.

Following the weekend, FIU will return to Miami for its home opener on Sept. 2 when they welcome Wisconsin to the FIU Soccer Stadium for a 7 p.m. match, followed by Niagara on Sept. 4 at 2 p.m.
