@FIUSwimDive Competes at Orange Bowl Swimming Classic on Tuesday

MIAMI (Jan. 2, 2017) – The FIU swimming and diving team (9-2) will take part in the 2017 Orange Bowl Swimming Classic on Tuesday, Jan. 3, from the Jacobs Aquatic Center in Key Largo, Florida.
 
The meet is scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m.
 
FIU is coming off a quad-meet last week, downing two of three opponents versus Yale, Cornell and Calvin College from the Biscayne Bay Aquatic Center. The Panthers defeated Cornell, 177-122, and Calvin College, 240-57.
 
On the year, FIU swimmers have registered the top times in Conference USA in 10 individual events. Kyna Pereira leads the way with the top times in four events, including a school record in the 500 Free (4:43.81 – 11/18). The Panthers have also notched the fastest times in C-USA in all five relay events, including a school record in the 200 Free Relay (1:30.50 – 11/18). In diving, Rebecca Quesnel has notched the top scores in each event, recording NCAA Diving Zone B qualifying marks in each of the three programs.  
 
Currently ranked No. 44 in CollegeSwimming.com's national poll, FIU has totaled three C-USA Swimmer of the Week honors (Pereira – Oct. 18; Skye Carey – Oct. 25; Naomi Ruele – Nov. 22), while Quesnel is the league's only repeat C-USA Diver of the Week (Oct. 18, Oct. 25, Nov. 22, Dec. 20) this season.
