MIAMI (October 12, 2017) – The FIU men's and women's cross country teams will travel up Interstate 75 to Tampa to take part in the USF Invitational on Friday, Oct. 13, at The Claw Golf Course on the USF campus.
The women's 5K race begins at 5 p.m., while the men's 8K race starts at 5:45 p.m. Individual awards will be announced at 6:15 p.m.
The women's team looks to continue to improve on what has already turned out to be one of its best seasons in the program's history. The Panthers are coming off a first-place performance at the Disney Cross Country Classic at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando on Oct. 7. That came on the heels of a second-place showing at the Mountain Dew Gator Invitational in Gainesville on Sept. 23.
Sherilene Gelderblom (Middelburg, Mpumalanga, South Africa/Kanonkop) has paced FIU so far this season with a first-place finish in Orlando and a second place finish in Gainesville during her two races.
On the men's side, the Panthers look to improve on their two finishes at the Gator Invitational and the Disney Cross Country Classic.
