Marie Tabbed Conference USA Offensive Player of the Week

MIAMI (October 16, 2017) – After an outstanding performance last week, FIU men's soccer senior Paul Marie (Saint Aubindes Bois, France) earned his first career Conference USA Offensive Player of the week, for the week ending in Oct. 15.

"Paul had a couple great performances last week," said FIU Head Coach Kevin Nylen. "He had a goal against FGCU followed by two more against South Carolina. Paul was the catalyst to our strong second half as a team Saturday night against USC."

Marie put up seven points for the Panthers this week (3g, 1a), more than doubling his points scored on the year. He now totals 12 points scored this season, with five goals and 2 assists.

While trailing 2-0 at FGCU on Tuesday, Marie scored the first goal for the Panthers in the 16th minute. The match ended in a thrilling 4-3 double-overtime, come-from-behind win over FGCU.

At South Carolina, Marie tallied a career-high five points, including the gamewinner. Trailing 1-0 against the Gamecocks, Marie scored unassisted to tie up the match in the 60th minute. Less than five minutes later, Marie assisted sophomore Jordan Machado in scoring off a set piece to take the lead in the 64th minute. Eight minutes after, Marie scored the eventual unassisted gamewinner for the Panthers in the 72nd minute. The Panthers defeated the Gamecocks 5-2 and extended their unbeaten streak to 11 matches.

Marie is third on the team in points scored in 10 matches played.

The Panthers will end a three-game road stretch at USF on Tuesday, Oct. 17 at 7 p.m.
