LOS ANGELES (Oct. 2, 2017 ) – FIU senior women's tennis standout, Andrea Lazaro (Barcelona, Spain), will be the Panthers' lone entrant in the 2017 Riviera/ITA All-American Championships, held at the Riviera Tennis Club in Pacific Palisades, California, starting Tuesday, Oct. 3.
                                                                                        
Lazaro, who is currently at No. 29 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) rankings, earned the preseason ranking after an impressive 2016-17 season record of 20-5 in singles and 14-1 doubles.
 
The event is invitation-only, with selections coming from the ITA National Ranking & Tournament Committee, consisting of the 12 region chairs, the ITA Operating Committee Chair and the Assistant ITA Operating Committee Chair. Regional representation will be determined by the most recent regional rankings, rather than the ITA Preseason National Ranking. For singles, this will be the highest ranked returning singles player (who was submitted for the event) on the most recent regional rankings.

Lazaro, who is seeded fourth in the qualifying draw, is scheduled to face Stefana Andrei of Louisiana-Monroe in their opening-round match at 3:30 p.m. ET. Lazaro will have to win her first three rounds of matches to advance in the main draw starting Thursday October 5, 2017.
