MIAMI, FLA. (Oct. 22, 2017) – The FIU women's tennis doubles team of
Maryna Veksler and
Ulyana Grib won its semifinal match on Sunday and advanced to the doubles finals of the 2017 ITA Regional Championships on Monday in Athens, Georgia.
Veksler and Grib defeated Georgia Tech's Ida Jariskog and Johnise Renauld, 8-6, to advance to the final.
In singles action, Veksler won her semifinal match in the consolation round, defeating Jessica Cortes of USF, 6-1, 6-3, advancing her to the consolation final where she dropped a 3-6, 0-6 decision to Ulyana Shirokova of Miami (Fla.).
Nerma Caluk also dropped a 5-7, 3-6 decision to Mariana Gould of Georgia in the quarterfinals of the consolation round.
Competition will wrap up on Monday morning at 9 am.
