FIU Tennis Closes out FIU Invitational

MIAMI (Oct. 29, 2017) – FIU senior Mina Markovic lost in the final of the FIU Invitational Tournament in Miami on Sunday, dropping a 6-1, 4-6, 6-4 decision to North Florida's Liza Petushkova.

The match was moved to Sunday due to torrential rain that came through South Florida on Saturday afternoon.

Overall, the Panthers won two singles finals matches and two doubles finals on Saturday.

Next up for the Panthers is the 2017 Oracle ITA National Fall Championships in Indian Wells, California, Nov. 1-5. Senior Andrea Lazaro will compete in the singles draw, after playing in the semifinal of the ITA All-American Championships earlier in October. Sophomore Ulyana Grib and junior Maryna Veksler qualified for the doubles draw after the ITA Regional Championship last week in Athens, Georgia.
