LOS ANGELES CALIF. (Oct. 30, 2017) – FIU Panther
Andrea Lazaro won a pair of singles matches to begin her first appearance at the 2017 Rivera ITA All-American Championship in Los Angeles on Tuesday. Lazaro had to take down two invitees to the tournament, first outlasting Stefana Andrei of ULM, 6-0, 3-6, 6-4 in the first qualifying round. She then defeated Ayan Broomfield of UCLA, 6-3, 6-2, in the second qualifying round.
The Panthers senior will play against ninth-seeded Anastasia Rychagova from Kansas on Wednesday at 2:45 p.m. Rychagova won her last match against Duke's Kaitlyn McCarthy 4-6, 6-4, 7- 5. That winner qualifies for the main draw of the championship, which begins Thursday on the West Coast.
