FIU Harriers Head to Disney Cross Country Classic

MIAMI (October 6, 2017) – The FIU men's and women's cross country teams will head up Florida's Turnpike this weekend to take part in the prestigious Disney Cross Country Classic on Saturday, Oct. 7, at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando, Florida.
 
The men's 8K race begins at 7:40 a.m. with the women's 5K following at 8:25 a.m.
 
The Panthers look for follow up on their strong performance at the Mountain Dew Gator Cross Country Invitational in Gainesville on Sept. 23, where the women's team took second place. Individually, sophomore Sherilene Gelderblom (Middelburg, South Africa) finished second overall, with a time of 17:21.2 in the 5K race, setting a new school record. She led the team which finished near the bottom in the same event last season.
