LOS ANGELES (October 6, 2017) – FIU senior
Andrea Lazaro (Barcelona, Spain) won a pair of singles matches on Friday afternoon in the 2017 Riviera ITA All-American Championship at the Riviera Tennis Club in Pacific Palisades, California. Lazaro defeated California's Olivia Hauger, 6-1, 4-6, 6-1 in the second round of the main draw and then handed a loss to Christina Rosca of Vanderbilt in the quarterfinals.
In the quarterfinals Lazaro defeated Rosca, ranked No. 47 in the nation, 3-6, 6-1, 6-2 advancing to the semifinal.
Lazaro's first appearance in the Riviera ITA All-American marked the best result in FIU tennis history and her top singles career win. Lazaro defeated a top 10 player in the country and defeated three others in advancing to the semifinal.
Lazaro will take the court next on Saturday. Match time and opponent are yet to be determined.
