MIAMI (October 9, 2017) -- Following a 3-0 start and a win in the FIU Fall Classic, the FIU swimming and diving program find itself ranked 27
th this week by CollegeSwimming.com in the latest poll. FIU defeated North Florida 157-104 and Georgia Southern 145-117 Saturday, while splitting the squad to take first-place points in the FIU Fall Classic at the Biscayne Bay Aquatic Center on Friday and Saturday. After defeating Miami (Fla.) to start the season, the team has excelled early this season in the pool and on the spring board.

The website also ranks FIU, the three-time defending C-USA Champion, as seventh among mid-major programs, second at this point in Conference USA.

FIU has the top times in 13 events registered so far this season, according to USA Swimming.com

"The early ranking is a direct reflection of the hard work the ladies have put in," said FIU Head Coach
Randy Horner. "It always nice to see hard work pay off. Â That said, we have a long road ahead to reach our goals for the season."

The first Conference USA Swimmer and Diver of the Week will be released by the league this week.

FIU will next complete at the Dual-A-Palooza in New Orleans, against Rice Tulane and Denver.
