MIAMI (March 16, 2017) -- FIU women's golf has its quickest turnaround of the season and longest trip of the year when the Panthers travel to Mesa, Arizona, for the Notre Dame Clover Cup. The 54-hole tournament is contested over three days at the Longbow Golf Club. The teams will play three, 18-hole rounds across the three days, with pairings reset each day by order of finish. The Longbow Golf Club layout for the weekend will be Par-72 at 6,184 yards.
FIU's last tournament finished on Sunday in Gainesville, making the five days between tournaments the shortest span of the year, but manageable during Spring Break.
The Panthers are led by senior
Camila Serrano (Bogota, Colombia), who is the back-to-back reigning Conference USA Golfer of the Week. She is currently ranked 47
th as an individual in the nation by Golfstat and has won the Golfer of the Week award four times this season, with only one other league golfer winning the award twice.
This weekend's tournament field includes six teams in the Golfstat Top 50. Including the host Fighting Irish, the field features No. 5 Arizona State, Cincinnati, No. 4 Florida State, No. 50 Houston, Indiana, IUPUI, No. 46 Kentucky, Minnesota, Nebraska, No. 25 Oklahoma, No. 30 TCU, UNC Greensboro and Vanderbilt.
FIU will be in the first group out of the day, paired with Houston and Vanderbilt, set to tee off at 11 a.m. Eastern from the first tee. Serrano is joined by senior
Coralia Arias (Quito, Ecuador), junior
Katerina Krasova (Ricany, Czech Republic) and freshmen
Carolina Rotzinger (Puebla, Mexico) and
Diana Velez (Dorado, Puerto Rico) as the FIU golfers in competition this weekend.
