INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (March 16, 2017) – The FIU swimming and diving team competed in three events during Thursday's action at the NCAA Division I Swimming and Diving Championships in Indianapolis, Indiana.
The team of
Letizia Bertelli,
Naomi Ruele,
Jennifer Deist and
Marie Lauridsen posted a time of 1:29.81, good for 24
th place. The group was the first-ever FIU team to swim in a relay at the NCAA Championships.
Bertelli took to the pool in the first of her three individual events of the championships, competing in the 50 Free. The native of Cremona, Italy, finished 46
th with a time of 22.63.
FIU wrapped up its first day of competition with the 400 Medley Relay. Ruele,
Carita Luukkanen, Deist and Bertelli finished the event with a time 3:36.28 for 24
th place.
