FIU Women’s Tennis Travels to Las Vegas to take on No. 46 UNLV Friday

MIAMI (March 2, 2017) – The FIU women's tennis team (7-1) travels to Las Vegas, Nevada, to take on No. 46th-ranked UNLV (6-3) from the Fertitta Tennis Complex on Friday, March 3.
 
First serve is set for 1:30 p.m. ET.
 
The Panthers come into Friday's match ranked No. 40 in the latest Oracle/ITA Division Rankings. FIU has won five-straight matches, including three-consecutive shutouts.  
 
The Rebels come into Friday's match having lost two-straight and are 5-2 at home this season. The Panthers own a 3-1 mark all-time versus UNLV, with FIU winning the last meeting between the two teams, 4-3, on March 5, 2011, in Fresno, California.
 
FIU is led by Maryna Veksler, who comes into this weekend's action with a team-best 14-3 mark. The native of Kiev, Ukraine, has won seven-straight singles matches and is 8-1 in the last 10 FIU outings. Joining Veksler are Andrea Lazaro and Mina Markovic, who have totaled 12 wins each. Lazaro (12-3) is currently ranked No. 34 in the latest Oracle/ITA Women's National Singles Rankings. Lazaro has registered an overall career mark of 36-12 and a 23-1 career record in dual matches.
