IRVING, Texas (March 2, 2017) -- FIU senior guard
Nikolina Todorovic (Banja Luka, Bosnia and Herzegovina) was one of six players in Conference USA named to the 2017 In-Touch Credit Union Conference USA Women's Basketball All-Academic Team. The team, announced today and voted on by the league's media relations coordinators, celebrates the true student-athletes in the league.
Â
Todorovic had her streak of 28-consecutive games in the starting lineup halted by an injury two weeks ago. She missed only one game and has been in the lineup in the past three contests, giving her 26 for the season and 86 for her four-year career. She draws the assignment of defending the opponents' best perimeter player and, as one of two seniors, is looked upon for guidance and energy from her teammates in the huddle and away from the court.
Â
She is a career .331 shooter from behind the three-point arc and has career averages of 2.0 points and 1.5 rebounds per game. She averaged 16.9 minutes per game, playing two years from the bench and the last two in a starting role with the Panthers.
Â
Todorovic speaks eight languages and achieved her undergraduate degree at FIU in just three years. She graduated with a double major in international relations and political science. She began her postgraduate work last fall towards a masters of marketing and is on pace to graduate for the second time later this year.
Â
She intends to enter the work of international marketing after receiving that graduate degree.
Â
FIU finishes the regular season this weekend, hosting Middle Tennessee on Thursday night at 7 before Todorovic and fellow senior
Janka Hegedus will be honored before the Senior Day game on Saturday against UAB, with a gametime of 2 p.m. in Miami.
