FIU’s Maryna Veksler Named to InTouch Credit Union C-USA All-Academic Team

IRVING, Texas (April 18, 2017) – FIU sophomore Maryna Veksler has been named to this year's InTouch Credit Union C-USA Women's Tennis All-Academic Team the league announced on Tuesday. Honorees are voted on by the league's sports information directors for tennis and must hold a minimum 3.2 GPA and have competed in at least 75 percent of their team's scheduled matches.
 
Veksler, a native of Kiev, Ukraine, has recorded a 3.80 GPA while studying computer engineering. Appearing in all 20 matches at the No. 2 position for the Panthers, Veksler has recorded a 15-2 mark in dual matches. She is tied for the team lead in overall singles wins with 22, owning a 22-5 record this season. A 2015-16 C-USA Academic Medalist (3.5 GPA or better), Veksler has won 19 of her matches in straight sets. She has been a member of the FIU 3.0 club for three-straight terms as well as the Dean's List. Veksler had a season-best, seven-match winning streak to begin the spring season, while going 7-3 during the fall, advancing the quarterfinals of ITA Southeast Regional. Veksler is also 21-4 in doubles action, including a 14-2 mark in dual matches at the No. 2 position.

The 2017 C-USA Women's Tennis Championship begins Thursday, April 20, from Denton, Texas. The Panthers have earned a first-round bye and will await the winner of Charlotte versus LA Tech. FIU's match will take place on Friday, April 21, at 11 a.m. ET.
