MIAMI (April 19, 2017) – FIU beach volleyball standouts
Lina Bernier,
Anabela Sataric and
Kari Peterson have been named to the Coastal Collegiate Sports Association (CCSA) All-Academic Team, as announced by the league office on Wednesday.

Bernier, a redshirt freshman from San Juan, Puerto Rico, currently boasts a 3.91 grade point average (GPA) in biomedical engineering. On the sand, Bernier holds an impressive 24-9 record and a 7-5 mark in CCSA matches. She has five wins each at the Nos. 2, 3 and 4 positions and a 9-3 record at No. 5.
Sataric holds a 3.91 GPA in international business. A senior from Biberis, Switzerland, Sataric is 22-10 on the year and 6-6 in CCSA contests. Sataric holds a 13-4 record at the No. 4 position and a 5-2 mark at the No. 5 spot. She is also 2-2 at No. 3 and 1-1 at No. 2.
Peterson, a junior from Boca Raton, Florida, has a 3.99 GPA in psychology. On the sand she is 13-12 on the season, while posting an 8-5 mark at the No. 2 spot.
The Panthers, ranked No. 10 in the nation, are 21-12 on the year entering the CCSA Tournament which begins this weekend in Emerson, Georgia. FIU enters the three-day, 10-team event as the No. 5 seed and will face the fourth-seed South Carolina Gamecocks on Friday, April 21, at 10:30 a.m. and the eight-seed Tulane Green Wave at 3 p.m.
On Saturday, the Panthers butt heads with Florida State at 12 p.m. before closing out pool play at 3 p.m. against ninth-seeded UNCW at 3 p.m.
The semifinals will take place on April 22, beginning at 9 a.m., with the championship match having a 1 p.m. first serve.
