Serrano Shoots 11-over in Opening Round of NCAA Championships

FIU senior Camila Serrano (Bogota, Colombia) shot an 11-over 83 and sits in a tie for 92nd of 132 golfers after the first round of NCAA Division I Women's Golf National Championships at Rich Harvest Farms Friday.
 
Serrano hit some trouble spots in the early going and made the turn at 6-over par. She finished her second nine at five over and landed at 83 for the opening round in the NCAA Championships.
 
Serrano, the Conference USA Golfer of the Year, teed off at nearly 2 p.m. Eastern time, and bogeyed the first and third holes of her day.
 
"The wind and the weather made it really difficult to swing the club today," said Serrano after her round.
 
Serrano will tee off at 9:25 a.m. in Saturday's second round in the National Championships. The top nine individuals not on a team advancing to match play after three rounds will advance to the fourth round for a chance al All-America status and the NCAA Individual Championship.
