MIAMI (May 3, 2017) – Kevin Nylen was named the head coach of the FIU men's soccer team on Dec. 16, 2016, but he is hardly an unfamiliar face on campus and in the athletics department. The native New Englander spent four seasons at FIU (2012-15) as an assistant coach, helping to build the Panthers into one of the most feared teams in Conference USA, winning the C-USA Tournament championship in 2015 and advancing the NCAA Championships for the first time since 2004. After that championship season, Nylen was named chief scout and U16 head coach with the Orlando City SC (Major League Soccer) Development Academy, a position that he held for one season before FIU came calling.
FIUSports.com recently sat down with Nylen and talked about a number of topics, including returning to FIU, his vision for FIU soccer and what he's really like as a family man and soccer coach.
