MIAMI (August 10, 2017) – The FIU men's and women's cross country/track and field teams have been recognized by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) as All-Academic programs. In all, 360 NCAA Division I teams - 218 women's and 142 men's - were honored for their academics by the USTFCCCA.
During the 2016-17 academic year, the women's team posted a cumulative grade point average of 3.013 while the men's team recorded a 3.001 cumulative GPA.
FIU's track and field programs also enjoyed tremendous success on the track this season, leading to the best season under Head Coach
Ryan Heberling. The Panthers had a school-record seven student-athletes advance to the NCAA East Regional Prelims during the outdoor season, with two,
Clarissa Cutliff and
Chris Sullivan, qualifying for the NCAA Championships in the high jump. Cutliff finished the year earning All-America honors during both the indoor and outdoor campaign's in the high jump.
