MIAMI (Sept. 27, 2017) – The FIU women's tennis team heads to Tampa Thursday, to compete in the 2017 Bedford Cup, the team's first fall action as a team. The tournament, which spans Friday through Sunday, September 30 to October 1, is hosted by USF.
 
Including the Panthers and host Bulls, other participating teams are Bethune-Cookman, Florida Atlantic, Florida Gulf Coast, Florida A&M, Miami (Fla.), North Florida, Stetson and UCF.
 
"This tournament will show us what we have to work on for the upcoming season" said FIU Coach Katarina Petrovic, whose Panthers posted a 21-2 mark last season. She is expecting the Panthers to bring to the USF courts the elements of their game that they have been working during practice to this point. 
 
Tournament matches will start at 9 a.m. each day of the event, with each student-athlete playing three singles and three double matches. The match schedule will be posted daily on the tournament website.
 
FIU's next action will include the ITA Women's All-American Championships on October 3.
