MIAMI (September 4, 2017) – For the second-straight week, FIU men's soccer standout Santiago Patino (Orlando, Florida / Freedom) has been named the Conference USA Offensive Player of the Week, for the week ending Sept. 3.
 
Over the weekend against New Jersey Institute of Technology (T, 2-2) and the College of Charleston (W, 3-2), Patino, the Preseason C-USA Offensive Player of the Year, recorded an assist and two goals.
 
Patino, a junior forward, assisted on the equalizing goal in the 73^rd minute on Friday night against NJIT. The match resulted in a 2-2 draw ending after 90-minutes of play due to lightning in the area.
 
During Sunday's match against Charleston, Patino scored the first goal of the day in the 25^th minute when he deked two defenders to get a clear open shot and connected to give the Panthers a 1-0 lead. After the Cougars scored at the end of the first half, Patino answered with a header into the upper left corner putting FIU back in the lead. Sunday's two-goal performance was his fourth multi-goal game of his career.
 
Patino leads the team with nine points scored (4g, 1a) in four matches on the year.
 
The Panthers will end a three-match homestand when they return home on Friday, Sept. 8 at 7 p.m. to open Conference USA play against Old Dominion.
