The Basics
The FIU men's and women's indoor track and field teams turned in some solid results in their season-opening meet at the Clemson University Orange & Purple Classic on Saturday. The Panthers recorded two top-three finishes during the day-long event.
 
Women's Highlights
- Terrisa Russell (Ft. Lauderdale, Florida/South Broward) posted the Panthers' first first-place finish of the 2018 campaign taking the top spot in the weight throw with a toss of 59-07.75m.
 
- Clarissa Cutliff (Orlando, Florida/Edgewater) began her trek to earn her second consecutive indoor All-America honor by taking third in the women's high jump with a height of 5-10.75m.
 
Other top 10 women's results included:
- Sydnee Wilkerson (Jacksonville, Florida/Ed White) – 24.92 –200m
- Kenflore Atilus (Naples, Florida/Naples) – 5-05m – High Jump
- Trinavia Williams (Gainesville, Florida/Sante Fe) – 47-09.25 – Weight Throw
 
Men's Highlights
- On the men's side, Jorge Areces (Miami, Florida/Christopher Columbus) posted a time of 16:40.48 in the 5000m.
 
- Daniel Neptune (Miami, Florida/Belen Jesuit) recorded a time of 8.19 in the 60m hurdles.
 
Other top 10 men's results included:
- Andrew Samuels (Brampton, Canada/Saint Edmund Champion) – 6-04.75 – High Jump
- Allen Wiggins (Orlando, Florida/The First Academy) – 46-06.75 – Shot Put
