FIU's Clarissa Cutliff Takes Second-Straight C-USA High Jump Title

Panthers record five top-five finishes in finals on Sunday at Conference USA Championships; Women's team records its highest point total in its C-USA history

The Basics
The FIU men's and women's indoor track and field teams closed out the 2018 Conference USA Championships on Sunday in impressive fashion posting eight top-10 finishes, five of those in the top-five. The women's team finished the two-day event with 40 points, the most the program has scored in its C-USA Championship history. The Panthers also boast its second individual champion in as many years.
 
Women's Highlights
- Clarissa Cutliff (Orlando, Florida/Edgewater) won her second-straight indoor high jump title, finding the top of the podium after a jump of 1.84m, her top mark of the season and the best in Conference USA this year. In addition, her performance is tied for the 11th-best height in NCAA Division I this year. Cutliff's 1.84m on Sunday surpassed her previous best this year of 1.83m set at the UAB Vulcan Invitational on Jan. 13.
 
- Jada Roberson (Tampa, Florida/Hillsborough) also had a solid afternoon posting two top-five finishes. Roberson took fourth in the in the 200m with a time of 24.08 and finished the 60m in a time of 7.50.
 
- Also in the 60m, Sydnee Wilkerson (Jacksonville, Florida/Ed White), finished right behind Roberson in a time of 7.55.
 
- Sherilene Gelderblom (Middelburg, Mpumalanga, South Africa), who already had an impressive performance on Saturday with a third-place finish in the 5,000m in a school-record time of 16:57.05, had a top-five finish on Sunday in the 3,000m in a time of 9:45.07.
 
Other top-15 women's results include:
 - Timberly Molden (Stone Mountain, Georgia) - 13.12m - Shot Put

 Men's Highlights
 - On the men's side, Daniel Neptune (Miami, Florida/Belen Jesuit) paced the way with a top-five finish in the 60m hurdles, finishing in a time of 8.07.
 
- Luares Tavares (Taunton, Massachusetts) finished just outside of the top-five in the triple jump with a distance of 14.88m.
 
- Allen Wiggins (Orlando, Florida/The First Academy) also had a top-10 finish, doing so in the shot put with a throw of 15.43.

Up next for FIU will be the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships - for those that qualify - on March 9-10 in College Station, Texas.
