MIAMI (February 22, 2018) – The FIU beach volleyball team will begin the 2018 campaign where it left off last season, among the nation's elite. The Panthers, who open up the season, at the Horned Frog Challenge in Fort Worth, Texas, Feb. 24-25, come into the event ranked No. 11 in the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) preseason poll.

Last season FIU finished the year with a 24-15 overall record, and advanced to their first-ever Coastal Collegiate Sports Association tournament championship match. The Panthers rose to as high as No. 8 in last year's week nine ranking, before finishing the season at No. 10.
