MIAMI (February 16, 2018) – FIU women's basketball looks for its second win over Florida Atlantic in a week as the Panthers head to Boca Raton Sunday to face the Owls in a Conference USA matchup at 2 p.m.
 
FIU defeated FAU last Sunday, 86-65, as the Panthers scored a season-high 86 points and connected on 11-of-22 three pointers. It will be the 43^rd time in the series the programs have met, with the Panthers holding a 32-10 edge. FIU has now won three-straight in the series. The Panthers won both meetings last season, including a 65-60 road win on January 26. FIU is 16-4 against the Owls in Miami and 16-5 on the road in the series, with just two conference tournament meetings - Louisiana back in 1996 and at home in 1998.
 
FIU is 7-19 on the season, with a 4-9 C-USA record, while the Owls are 10-13 overall and 5-8. FAU defeated Southern Miss, 89-74, Thursday night.
 
The Panthers played one of their most efficient offensive games of the season last Sunday against FAU on their way to the 21-point win. Junior Kristian Hudson put up a game-high 21 points and added eight assists and seven rebounds in the win. Hudson averaged 22.0 points-per-game last week against FAU and UTSA. Redshirt junior Kiandre'a Pound posted a double-double with 20 points and 12 rebounds on Senior Day. Sophomore Kayla Rogers added 17 points, with freshman TaMiracle Taylor scored 10 points.
 
For the third-straight game, FIU outshot its opponent, posting a .449 shooting mark, while holding FAU to .409 shooting.
 
FAU bounced back from the lost to FIU with an 89-74 home win against Southern Miss. Danneal Ford led the Owls with 27 points. Three other FAU players scored in double figures – Malia Kency (16 points), Alexis Cowan (15 points) and Melinda Myers (10 points). The Owls outshot the Eagles .534 to .451 in the win. FAU led 47-19 at halftime. The Owls were 9-of-19 from three-point range.
 
The Panthers will complete the regular season on the road at UTSA Thursday night at 9 p.m. before traveling to Southern Miss Saturday at 5 p.m.
