FIU hosts Florida A&M in a two-game series beginning Tuesday night at 7 p.m. from the FIU ballpark. The series concludes with a Wednesday matinee at 3 p.m.

FIU sophomore right-hander Nick MacDonald (0-0, 0.00 ERA) will get the ball on Tuesday night opposing FAMU freshman right-hander Pedro de los Rios (0-0, 16.62 ERA). Wednesday's starters for both teams have yet to be determined.

The Panthers and Rattlers have met 76 times in their series history, which began in 1981. FIU has won 66 of those games. The teams last met in 2013 in a two-game series at FIU. The Panthers won both games, 7-4 in the opener and 8-4 in the second game.

FIU is coming off taking two of three games from Grambling last weekend. Five FIU pitchers combined for a 3-0 shutout in game one of the series. Tyler Myrick (1-0) led the way with five scoreless innings and struck out seven. Freshman Will Saxton picked up his first collegiate save.

After dropping the middle game of the series 8-7, FIU bounced back Sunday with a 12-7 win fueled by home runs from Lorenzo Hampton, Jr. and Jose Garcia. Each player hit two home runs in the series. Garcia had a grand slam Sunday to extend FIU's lead to 10-3.

Freshman left-hander Logan Allen pitched six innings, allowed one earned run and struck out seven in Sunday's win. Allen recorded his first college win.

FAMU split a four-game series with Alcorn over the weekend. The Rattlers scored 39 runs in the series. FAMU won big in the second (21-4) and third (11-3) games of the series.

Dallas Oliver leads FAMU with a .467 average. John Capra and Octavien Moyer each have two home runs.

Josh Wilson leads the FAMU pitching staff with a 2.70 ERA.
