MIAMI (March 14, 2018) – Holding a 7-1 record, the FIU women's tennis team hosts Columbia (6-4) on Wednesday, March 15, at the FIU Tennis Courts.
First serve is set for 1 p.m., and admission is free to the public.
The Panthers, at No. 38 in the latest Oracle/ITA Women's Tennis Ranking, are coming off two straight shutout wins and have a 2-0 record at home in 2018.
The Lions come into Wednesday's match with a 6-4 record, after picking up a 6-1 win in their last match against Marquette on Tuesday, March, 13. The two schools met last time in 2017, where the Panthers won 4-3.
In the last match against Cleveland State, senior
Andrea Lazaro and junior
Maryna Veksler recorded their 18
th and 13
th wins of the season in singles, respectively. Lazaro is currently ranked at No. 4 in the Oracle/ITA individual rankings.
In doubles, Veksler and
Ulyana Grib, currently ranked at No. 9 in the Oracle/ITA doubles ranking, hold a record of 11-3 and 4-1 in dual matches. The tandem of Lazaro and
Nerma Caluk are undefeated at position three and have a record of 8-0 in dual matches.
