The Basics
The FIU men's and women's track and field teams opened up its 2018 outdoor campaign, heading across town to take part in the University of Miami Hurricane Invitational, at UM's Cobb Stadium. The Panthers had three student-athletes record a total of four top five finishes on the afternoon. Â

Women's Highlights

Terrisa Russell (Fort Lauderdale, Florida/South Broward) led the way for the Panthers during day one with a pair of second place finishes. She recorded a throw of 46.73m in the discus, followed that up with a toss of 58.56m in the hammer. Her throw ranks her second in the East Region and fourth in NCAA Division I. Although she was second in the hammer, Russell was the top collegiate finisher.

- Joining Russell in the top three in the discus was
Timberly Molden (Stone Mountain, Georgia), recording a personal best with a throw of 45.87m for third.

Trinavia Williams (Gainesville, Florida/Santa Fe) rounded out FIU's top five finishers with a throw of 51.34m in the hammer, marking a personal best.

Men's Highlights
- On the men's side,
Andrew Samuels (Brampton, Ontario) posted a mark of 1.90m in the high jump.
