The Basics
The FIU men's and women's track and field teams got back on the track this week, taking part in the first day of the USF Invitational at the USF Track & Field Stadium in Tampa. The light day included the first half of the heptathlon along with the men's and women's hammer, men's and women's long jump, men's and women's 10,000, and the men's discus. The remainder of the events will take place on Friday.

The Panthers finished the afternoon with five athletes posting top-10 finishes.

Men's Highlights
- FIU's two lone male performers on the day recorded top-10 finishes in the long jump, including a third-place finish by
Christian Williams (Hialeah, Florida/American). Williams recorded a leap of 7.18m, while teammate, and Bay area local product,
Reed Service (Tampa, Florida/Riverview) was not far behind with a distance of 6.98m

Women's Highlights
- The women's side, three of the four competitors in the hammer throw placed in the top-10.
Terrisa Russell (Fort Lauderdale, Florida/South Broward) led the way with a throw of 52.29m while
Trinavia Williams (Gainesville, Florida/Santa Fe) logged a distance of 49.98m.
Harrison Mancke (Lecanto, Florida/Lecanto) closed out the top-10 finishers in the event with a mark of 44.97m.
